In NSW, some environmental planning instruments refer to the Director General’s Design Excellence Guidelines, 2011, and some refer to the Draft Government Architect’s Design Excellence Competition Guidelines (DECG), 2018, when describing the process and governance for conducting a design competition.
The draft DECG has been developed to improve consistency across the state, following review and feedback from key stakeholders including, local government and industry representatives, state agencies and the Department of Planning and Environment assessments teams.
