Design Excellence Guidelines and Competitions
Design competitions are a well-tested and highly successful procurement model; they help prioritise good design and can bring the highest quality of thinking and originality to a project.
The Draft Government Architect’s Design Excellence Competition Guidelines, 2018 revise and update the Director General’s Design Excellence Guidelines, 2011.
These new Draft Guidelines have been developed following review and feedback from key stakeholders including Department of Planning and Environment assessments teams, local government representatives, agencies and industry. Information on the objectives, processes and requirements for statutory design competitions are presented in the Draft Guidelines.
Once this draft document has been approved, it will replace the Director General’s Design Excellence Guidelines, 2011.
